When we went to bed last night the Farmer was spreading manure on the big field at the edge of which are the piles of manure where I get my compost. This morning when I looked outside I discovered a plow parked in the field, and I knew that if I wanted to finish filling my planting boxes, I had better hurry. So at 8 am I took the wheelbarrow and started fetching 6 more loads of compost. Below I have shown the way I have had to take to fetch inumerable wheelbarrow loads of compost for my boxes.

From the boxes up the slope to the driveway. |
Across and down into the field, fairly steeply until I reach the fence. |
Then along the bottom of the horse pasture |
Until I reach the mounds of manure. |
The barrow is filled and then I have to retrace my steps. |
And while I worked, Lucy lay patiently chained to a tree, watching the comings and goings on the road below, and waiting for her walk.
